Follow Along or Take Part in the Challenge; Popular ActiveTrainer Plans Available for Free in January
SAN DIEGO, CA – January 12, 2009 – Active.com, an award-winning online community of The Active Network, Inc., has matched up four teams of individuals with well-known fitness experts and coaches to get in shape for 2009 through the “Who Wants to Get Active?” challenge. Created to help individuals reach their fitness goals and also motivate others, “Who Wants to Get Active?” follows the training programs and experiences of 16 men and women as they strive to accomplish one of four major goals – weight loss, 5K run, marathon or triathlon.
Over the next four months, team members from around the country will be uploading videos and photos, and blogging regularly about their progress. Each participant has also been given an Omron pedometer to monitor their mileage, and the “Who Wants to Get Active” coaches and nutrition expert Nancy Clarke will provide encouragement and share valuable tips.
“One of the best ways to reach a major fitness goal is to create a team of supporters and follow a good training plan, and the ‘Who Wants to Get Active’ challenge does just that,” said Gale Bernhardt, Active Expert and Olympic Coach. “I’m confident my team will overcome any and all obstacles, and I look forward to sharing insights and providing training tips and tools to help anyone preparing for their first race.”
Four Teams. Four Fitness Goals. Four Coaches.
