Active Network’s Parks and Recreation Software Consolidates Multiple Operating Channels for Minneapolis and Saint Paul
SAN DIEGO, CA – August 31, 2010 – Today, The Active Network, Inc., a technology and media company, announced that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and Saint Paul Parks and Recreation, the two largest parks and recreation organizations in Minnesota, have selected its technology to manage and automate their daily operations. Active Network’s Web-based parks and recreation software, available through its ActiveCommunities division, helps both organizations eliminate inefficient manual processes, centralize data for enhanced reporting and offer improved online registration for community activities.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has over 18 million annual visits to its 182 park properties. Active Network’s Software as a Service (SaaS) model allows MPRB to consolidate all registration data history into a single database, enabling them to customize reports, access real-time activity information and scheduling, utilize ecommerce capabilities, offer point of sale purchasing, and much more. MPRB’s online visitors now benefit from improved league scheduling and registration, facility viewing and booking, and secure payment options.
“Previously, the City of Minneapolis had multiple software systems managing our recreational facilities but we recognized the need for a unified operating platform,” explained Melissa Shaw, project manager of MPRB. “After a thorough analysis of all software contenders, we selected Active Network’s online technology for its ease-of-use, improved interface and streamlined payment technology.”
Saint Paul Parks and Recreation has over 170 parks and open spaces, including 25 city operated recreation centers, among other facilities. Using hosted, online recreation software from Active Network, the City of Saint Paul’s parks and recreation department is able to offer its three million annual recreation center visitors improved online access to register for events, pay fees, purchase merchandise and view up-to-date event information. Saint Paul benefits from detailed reporting and automated marketing functions that save time and money.
“Active Network’s software was an attractive candidate from the start because of its solid reputation, affordability and practical design,” said Brad Meyer, public information officer of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation. “The integration of Active Network’s software provides us with great insight to our operations and allows us to focus our efforts and energy on making necessary improvements.”
“Minneapolis and Saint Paul operate large, quality parks and recreation departments that service millions of visitors each year,” explained James Reyes, general manager of Active Network’s Communities division. “Active Network is thrilled to provide both organizations with the best in class technology and marketing solutions to improve their efficiency and operations.”
