Active Network Now Provides Campus Recreation Software to 12 of Ontario’s 20 Public Universities
SAN DIEGO, CA – October 14, 2010 – The Active Network, Inc. (Active Network), a technology and media company, today announced that Ryerson University and the University of Windsor, both located in Ontario, Canada, selected Active Network’s operations management software and hosted technology for their recreation departments. Active Network now provides 12 public universities in Ontario with software for their recreation departments. The Web-based campus recreation software, available through Active Network’s Communities division, will allow the schools to consolidate daily operations, reduce manual processes and improve operating costs for their recreation departments.
The University of Windsor is the first university in Ontario to adopt Active Network’s fully hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) model for campus recreation. Active Network’s solutions will allow the recreation department to save time and money by moving away from manual processes to online management. Recreational users will benefit from online access to schedule and register for activities and leagues, pay fees, view up-to-date event information, and more.
"As the University of Windsor continues to attract students, we saw a need for campus recreation software that can accommodate growing demand," said Sandra Ondracka, Manager of Campus Recreation for the University of Windsor. "We are impressed with Active Network’s software solutions and expect to improve our resources by using the 'SaaS' system."
Through an extensive $60 million renovation, Ryerson University is in the process of creating a new varsity athletics and recreation centre inside of Toronto's historic Maple Leaf Gardens building. Ryerson University's Athletic and Recreation department will continue to offer students and its community a large variety of activities including intramural sports, open recreation, fitness classes, special interest programs and more at its existing and new facilities. With Active Network’s software solution, the university can manage all recreation operations on a single platform system without any capital expenses for costly databases or Web servers.
"Ryerson University was in need of an extensive modular software service capable of managing a wide-range of products and services offered by our recreation department," said Andrew Hay, Athletics and Recreation Customer Service Coordinator of Ryerson University. "Active Network's campus software was the best option because of its functionality, reputation and cost effectiveness."
"We now work with over half of the public universities in Ontario and we are excited to serve the recreational needs of these two new universities," said James Reyes, General Manager of Active Network’s Communities division. "This is a testament to Active Network’s quality products and services in the campus recreation arena."
These schools join the University of Toronto, York University, University of Ontario Institute of Technology and University of Guelph, among others, as universities in Ontario that have chosen Active Network technology solutions.
