4th Largest Marathon in the U.S. Sells out 30,000 Slots in Record Time
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – March 9, 2012 – Active Network (NYSE: ACTV) announced a major milestone as the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) – one of its oldest and largest endurance customers – recorded the fastest registration sellout in its history this week. Using its ActiveWorks® cloud technology, Active Network registered 30,000 runners for MCM’s signature race in less than three hours.
“We literally saw hundreds of online registrations-per-minute and were pleased with how our new ActiveWorks platform handled the demand for our race,” said Rick Nealis, MCM director. “For 37 years, MCM has taken pride in offering a world-class event, and by partnering with Active Network, our runners enjoyed a seamless registration process.”
The MCM has been a longstanding Active Network customer and this year began migrating the management of its races to the Active Network cloud technology platform, ActiveWorks. This marks the largest endurance customer to adopt ActiveWorks and take advantage of the platform’s comprehensive features including centralized access to year-over-year participant data. Using ActiveWorks, MCM delivered a more efficient registration experience to its participants while increasing legal compliance of its race waivers.

The fourth largest marathon in the U.S., the 37th MCM will be held on Sunday, October 28 in Arlington, Va. and the nation’s capital.
