First Customer to Streamline Data on ActiveWorks® to Provide Citizens Better Access to the Great Outdoors
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — December 13, 2012 — ACTIVE Network (NYSE: ACTV), the leader in cloud-based Activity and Participant Management™ (APM), announced that longtime customer, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks (MDWFP) has successfully streamlined its outdoor services on the ActiveWorks® Outdoors technology platform. MDWFP is the first Outdoors customer to consolidate information, like game harvest reporting and registration information, into a single database.
Earlier this year, ACTIVE Network successfully migrated roughly 10 million sales records with more than 12 year’s worth of data to the ActiveWorks Outdoors technology platform. Since rolling out the new system, MDWFP has issued more than 310,000 permits and has made getting outdoors easier and more convenient.
“Harnessing this technology and migrating to one platform has helped us improve efficiency and productivity,” said Curtis Thornhill, chief systems information officer at MDWFP. “This platform is a launch pad for us to continue to streamline our operations, as well as grow additional capabilities into our system in the future, such as big game and lottery systems.”
ActiveWorks Outdoors enables MDWFP’s outdoor operations, including campground reservations, hunting & fishing licenses and vehicle license renewals, to be managed under a single, highly configurable cloud-based system with the added benefits of centralized reporting and the ability to process payments quickly.
“We work with more than 40 state customers to help them run their day-to-day more smoothly. MDWFP is one of the first agencies of its kind to use cloud-based technology to streamline its operations and manage its data assets,” said Steve Connolly, senior vice president of Outdoors at ACTIVE Network. “ActiveWorks Outdoors is designed to manage costs and reduce time spent on administrative tasks. Customers can then focus on providing great service to their citizens."
ACTIVE Network processes more than 37 million hunting and fishing licenses annually and is the number one processor of hunting and fishing licenses in the United States. ActiveWorks Outdoors offers enterprise-level management of outdoor recreation facilities and programs on public lands, including campgrounds and parks, marinas, historical/natural tour/ticketing sites, wilderness areas, and game/wildlife management programs. The consumer portals operated under the ReserveAmerica.com and Recreation.gov brands provide booking access to the largest inventory of outdoor recreation activities in North America.
