ACTIVE Network and Its Products and Services in the News

ACTIVE Network Awarded Four-Year Extension as Official Supplier of Timing Hardware Technology for London Marathon Events Ltd.

Following the record-setting 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon, ACTIVE Network | IPICO’s dual-frequency RFID timing hardware was named the Official Supplier of Timing Hardware Services for London Marathon Events Ltd., whose events include the Virgin Money London Marathon, the adidas Silverstone Half Marathon, the Vitality Westminster Mile, the Vitality London 10,000 and the Standard Chartered Great City Race. The partnership extension was awarded after the timing hardware’s successful performance, reliability and accuracy at the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon event, where more than 39,000 runners completed the 26.2-mile course, making the 36th edition of the race the biggest in its history by almost 1,500 participants.

In 2016, ACTIVE Network | IPICO designed new all-weather, heavy-duty timing mats to further improve performance and runner experience for the Virgin Money London Marathon. For the second year, they also custom-branded each runner’s IPICO timing tags with a sponsor’s image, which doubled as an attractive take-home souvenir for participants.

“Accuracy and reliability are critical for our events, and IPICO hardware delivered accordingly,” said Hugh Brasher, event director for London Marathon Events Ltd. “We are especially delighted with the performance of their new timing mats, and I’m pleased to confirm that we have agreed to a continuation of our partnership with ACTIVE Network as the Official Supplier of Timing Hardware Services for the Virgin Money London Marathon and our four other running events.”

“The Virgin Money London Marathon is one of the world’s most prestigious events, and we were thrilled to once again support such an iconic race,” said Sam Renouf, general manager of sports at ACTIVE Network. “We have worked with London Marathon Events Ltd. for over six years, and we are pleased that they have chosen us to continue to support them as the official supplier of timing hardware technology through the end of 2020.”
