Active.com Launches "Who Wants to Get Active?" Program Featuring Everyday People Striving to Reach Fitness Goals

Men and Women Pursuing Healthier Lifestyles in 2008 Matched with Expert Trainers and Coaches

SAN DIEGO, CA - December 26, 2007 - Active.com, an online community of The Active Network, Inc. (www.activenetwork.com), has paired up everyday people with well-known fitness experts and coaches to get in shape for 2008 through the "Who Wants to Get Active?" program. Created to help individuals reach their fitness goals and also motivate others, "Who Wants to Get Active?" (http://www.active.com/fitness) follows the training programs, challenges and accomplishments of men and women through personal and feature-rich blogs.

Kicking off the program are six men and women from around the country, ranging in age from 25 to 73 years old and of varying fitness levels. Although they share a common purpose, to lead a more active and healthier lifestyle in 2008, each person has a unique goal and reason for participating in the program:

  • Brian (38), a traveling, hardworking professional, is teamed up with the Diet Detective to lose 25 pounds, firm up, and run a half-marathon this spring.
  • Sara (25) is a Medicare auditor who wants to get back into shape. Coach Jenny Hadfield is helping Sara reach her goal to lose 30 pounds and get fit in time for her wedding.
  • Belle (30) is a multi-sport athlete who is following Gale Bernhardt's training regime in order to compete in her first Olympic-distance triathlon.
  • Bob (73), an attorney with a strong desire to be a competitive athlete, is training with Dave Camire to place in a number of upcoming running races.
  • Michelle (33) is a health care recruiter who wants to get in the best shape of her life for her wedding. She is being coached by the World's Fittest Man, Joe Decker.
  • Stay-at-home mom, Megan (33), is training with Dave Dunham to get in shape, lose 20 pounds and run a race that doesn't involve chasing her three kids around the house.

Over the next five months, participants will be uploading videos and photos, and blogging regularly about their experiences. To learn more about the participants, coaches and "Who Wants to Get Active?" program, please visit http://www.active.com/fitness.
