Antioch Leisure Services Offers Online Registration For Fall Season

ANTIOCH, CA - August 22, 2002 - For the Antioch community, signing up for fall recreation activities is now fast and easy. The City of Antioch Leisure Services is now offering online registration for its fall season. Participants can view fall program information, check availability, and sign up and submit payment online from home or work at www.ci.antioch.ca.us

Online registration is available for more than 110 programs. New fall programs include Giggley & Wiggley for Parent and Me Gymnastics, a parent/child class for ages 2-3; Fabulous Garnishes and Appetizers, catering and cooking techniques for teens and adults; Break Dancing Workshop for ages 13-15; and Fall Off-Track Vacation Zone, which includes classes for those year-round students, kindergarten through third grade, who have time off from September thru November.

"This is our first fall season using online registration, although we've tried the service for last spring and summer," explained David Sanderson, recreation services manager, City of Antioch Leisure Services. "Since we have a large commuter community, online registration gives our participants an opportunity to register for classes on a lunch or coffee break, right from their desks, or even at home late at night. Participants can also view a variety of classes they may not be aware of, including alternate classes that may also fit into their schedules."

The department is using ProActive, a recreation management software and Web registration product by La Jolla-based The Active Network. The software installs easily and registration and data management capabilities can be accessed quickly. With online enrollment, the staff reduces the workload and paperwork involved in the registration process.

Added Sanderson, "Convenience and information gathering are the top benefits of online registration. Online registration reduces the amount of staff time required to input registrations. The service also cuts down on any delay time in letting people know whether classes are full."

To register online, the community can visit www.ci.antioch.ca.us and click on Leisure Guide. There is a nominal convenience fee to use the online registration service. Antioch Leisure Services also offers registration by fax, mail and walk-in. Walk-in registration starts Monday, August 26. For more information, call 925-779-7070.
