BEDFORD, MA - September 4, 2002 - The Bedford community can now enroll for recreation activities from home or work, thanks to a new online service launched by Bedford Recreation Department. Beginning this week, the community can enroll online for a variety of fall classes.
"We wanted an online registration option for our residents. In this day and age, e-commerce is a necessity for so many people. ProActive offers a real-time means of registering and the technology interfaces smoothly with our existing recreation management software," explained Amy Hamilton, program coordinator, Bedford Recreation Department. "Participants can register easily at their convenience, without leaving the house or finding a stamp and envelope."
Using ProActive, a recreation management software and Web registration product by La Jolla, Calif.-based The Active Network, the Bedford Recreation Department is making its programs available via the Internet. The software installs easily and registration and data management capabilities can be accessed quickly. With online enrollment, the staff reduces the workload and paperwork involved in the registration process.
The department is offering online registration for more than 45 fall classes with multiple sessions for pre-school, youth, middle and high school, and adult.
