Chargers Players and Endurance Athletes Test-Drive Industry’s Top Vehicles to Help Choose ‘2007 Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year’ Winners
SAN DIEGO, CA – October 12, 2006 – Elite athletes from around San Diego County, including Scott Mruczkowski and Nick Speegle from the San Diego Chargers, will team up on Tuesday, October 24, to test drive the finalists in the ‘2007 Active Lifestyle Vehicle (ALV) of the Year’ competition. Presented by The Active Network, Inc. and Gen-A Network, the ALV award program showcases the industry’s top vehicles for active lifestyle consumers, from sport coupes to full-size sport utility vehicles and minivans, and bridges the gap between auto manufacturers and athletes.
The top 20 Active Lifestyle Vehicle finalists from five separate categories (Best Value On road, Best Value Off-road, Luxury On road, Luxury Off-road and Minivan) will be on site at The Active Network’s San Diego headquarters for athletes to check out, load up with gear, and take on a 30 minute, 22 mile ‘Ride and Drive’ course around San Diego, featuring a mix of freeway driving, hills, speed bumps and curves. All cars will be evaluated by athletes based on handling, cargo space and special active lifestyle features, including roof racks, bike transport and towing capability. After weighing feedback from athletes and automotive journalists, the top five Active Lifestyle Vehicles will be chosen and presented at this year’s San Diego International Auto Show from December 27 – 31, 2006.
