City of Chicago Selects Automated Cashiering Solution From The Active Network

Active’s Payment Manager is Chosen to Enhance Customer Service and Integrate Payment Transactions for Third Largest U.S. City

SAN DIEGO - March 24, 2008 - The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a leading provider of software technology and marketing solutions for government agencies and community service organizations, today announced that the City of Chicago has selected the company’s Payment Manager solution to provide integrated cashiering and payment processing for all the city’s daily payment transactions. Payment Manager will enable the city to streamline its payment collection process and provide its customers easy, expanded payment options through a variety of customer service channels.

Over two billion dollars in payments will be processed each year by Active’s software at over 100 cashier terminals located in the city’s seven payment centers. Payment Manager will allow Chicago’s Revenue department to manage all the daily payment transactions for each of its divisions through one system, enabling the city to lower operating costs. Using Active’s integrated cashiering, Chicago will have a robust, proven solution to collect, process and track all payments. It will also provide the Revenue department accurate audit trails as well as simplify reconciliation and cash flow.

“Active offers tremendous expertise in cashiering operations and proven success in providing cities with customized operating solutions to meet their specific needs,” said Bea Reyna-Hickey, Director of Revenue, City of Chicago. “It is these skills that assured us of Active’s ability to understand the City of Chicago’s business and deliver a comprehensive enterprise solution.”

Active’s Payment Manager is expected to enhance Chicago’s customer service by expanding the city’s alternative payment service channels such as Internet, self-serve kiosk and pay-by telephone. Expanding these additional service channels will increase access hours, help reduce in-person wait times for customers using traditional walk-in services and enable multiple payments to be processed in a single transaction with one receipt.

“Active’s Payment Manager enables cities and counties to effectively centralize payment collections and financial transactions across their entire organizations,” says Alex Barnetson, senior vice president, The Active Network, Inc. “Chicago will benefit from Active’s cashiering solution by reducing operating costs and providing its citizens improved accessibility to new services and payment options.”
