Online Registration Technology Offers Convenient Public Access to Over 27,000 City Recreation Programs
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - October 17, 2005 - Powered by technology from Active Community Solutions, a leading provider of program, facility, and membership management software to community organizations and part of The Active Network, Inc., the City of Toronto, Ont., received a Gold Award at Ontario's 2005 Public Sector Quality Fair for creation of its Toronto FUN Online program.
Using automation software from Active Community Solutions, the city of Toronto implemented Toronto FUN Online to debut its first online registration program for recreation. The program offers Toronto residents the ability to search, register, and submit payment online for more than 27,000 recreation programs offered by the city and its surrounding areas.
"Receiving a Gold Award is one of the highest levels of recognition in the public sector and we applaud Toronto's progressive efforts to make access to recreation more convenient by leveraging technology," said Alex Barnetson, senior vice president, The Active Network, Inc. "We're very proud that the city chose our technology to support the successful launch of its Toronto FUN Online program and look forward to supporting Toronto's technology needs as the program grows."
In support of the city's customer service improvement initiative, the software provides increased convenience and accessibility for the Toronto community and saves administrative time for city employees. The Toronto staff now has the ability to offer real-time registration, synchronizing phone and mail-in registrations with online registrations to eliminate duplicate registrations and scheduling conflicts. The software also enables staff to manage and automate daily tasks such as membership sales, facility bookings and reservations, printable registration confirmations, account history logs, and a standard point-of-sale system to accept payments through various methods.
With a population of over 2.5 million, the city introduced Toronto FUN Online to help manage the increasing volume of recreation program registrations. Since launching the technology in September 2004, nearly 34 percent of registrations are now processed online.
