New System to Provide User-Friendly Campground and Lodging Reservation Options for over 90 Parks and Historical Sites
SAN DIEGO, CA - July 9, 2008 - The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a company that delivers software technology and marketing solutions for community service organizations, has been selected by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to design and host a new operations management system that integrates all facets of the department’s state park management. Active’s park management system will expand campground and lodging reservation options for easier user access to sites and activities, and streamline daily accounting operations.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department previously utilized multiple software programs and will now benefit from Active’s solutions that manage all the department’s functions with one central system.
In addition to managing over 90 state parks and historic sites, TPWD handles other outdoor recreation opportunities. Active’s park management system enables TPWD to:
- process camping and lodging reservations
- track and perform daily accounting transactions
- monitor visitor traffic
- oversee concessionaires, ticketed and non-ticketed activities, and equipment rentals
- track inventory
- operate food services
- manage retail sales transactions
The new system will continue to provide citizens easy access to reservations, rentals and activities through service channels such as the Internet and a call center.
“The Active Network combines its expertise and innovation to deliver state, county and other recreation organizations with solutions that increase visitation, streamline operations and improve customer service,” said Alex Barnetson, senior vice president, The Active Network, Inc. “We are proud to supply the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department with a new system that will allow them to operate all their facilities more efficiently, while providing a user-friendly experience to all.”
