New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Selects RecWare Software to Automate and Web-Enable its Recreation Operations

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - August 2, 2004 - The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, serving more than eight million residents across the five boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, has selected RecWare Safari recreation management software from The Active Network, Inc. to automate and Web-enable its recreation operations.

Parks & Recreation, expected to implement RecWare Safari in October, will use the software to fully automate daily processes such as activity registration, facility reservation, membership and pass management, point of sale, marketing reporting and financial management. The agency will also use RecWare Safari to enhance its facility reservation process and to offer new services such as Internet registration and Internet facility reservation to the community. Through RecWare Safari's Internet registration and Internet facility reservation capabilities, New York City residents will have the ability to register for recreation activities and reserve facility and park space online.

"We chose RecWare Safari software after completing a thorough review that measured over 100 different functional capabilities. Our evaluation included a range of recreation management software solutions, including our existing software," explained Parmod Tripathi, Agency Chief Contracting Officer, New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. "RecWare software was selected for its advanced technology and the company's solid track record serving the technology needs of major cities. The software offers some impressive features and it was much easier to use than any other software we evaluated. We're looking forward to providing a much higher level of customer service as well as offering New York residents access to our programs and facilities via the Internet."

"As one of the nation's premier recreation organizations, New York City Department of Parks & Recreation engaged in an extremely thorough and professional public process for its technology selection," said Cyril Juanitas, vice president of sales, RecWare. "We're honored to serve as the City's technology partner to help the organization fully automate and deliver new capabilities to enhance customer service."
