Online Registration for Teams and Leagues Now Available at Eteamz

LA JOLLA, CA – November 5, 2001 – What’s the easiest, fastest and most reliable way for coaches, parents and athletes to sign up for team sports? Ask eteamz. The leading online community for team and league sports – part of The Active Network properties – rolled out integrated, online registration this month for teams, leagues and organizations. The service has already been successful for eteamz customers.

“We typically receive 350 registration forms and checks in the mail during the registration period, and another 70 forms through our walk-in registration. Using eteamz registration, we successfully registered nearly 400 players via the Web," explained Dr. Russ Miller, president of Amherst Youth Basketball, a New York-based league that used eteamz online registration for its 2001/2002 season after a 20-year history using paper-based registration. “We saved time, effort and a significant amount of money through our online registration process. By word of mouth, due to the ease of registration, our total registrations actually went up significantly this year. The number of data entry errors were also fewer than in past years and parents loved the new service. The ability of parents to register at their convenience was a real hit."

More than 660,000 teams, leagues and organizations have used eteamz Web tools to build team Web sites and communicate with their players. Now league administrators and coaches can set up customized online registration in minutes, directly from their eteamz Web sites or by incorporating into separate Web sites. Administrators can manage transactions ranging from entry and membership fees, sponsorship donations, and even t-shirt purchases. They can collect fees and registrant information, download or print registration reports, view statistics and send group e-mails. The phone calls, paperwork and data entry required in a paper-based registration process are reduced, resulting in lower operating costs.

“Well over 100 million registrations take place each year in the team and league sports market," said Gregg Vincent, vice president of product management, The Active Network. “By automating the process through online registration, we’re eliminating hours of paperwork, data entry and payment processing for thousands of league administrators and their participants. This is also a proven technology, based on our experience and knowledge managing millions of online transactions for sports events at Active.com over the past three years."

Online registration also offers increased convenience. Parents and players can register quickly, easily and securely day or night at their convenience, right from the specific team Web site.

League administrators can set up online registration in minutes by following these steps:

  • Log into their administrative area on www.eteamz.com, click on the Registration folder. From this folder, administrators can create a secure registration account and have access to add, edit and review registration listings and participant information.
  • Once a listing is created in their Registration Center, administrators can place a link on their sites to their registration (listing) page on Active.com (www.active.com). This allows participants to access their registration through either the eteamz or Active.com Web site.

Administrators without existing Web sites or independent tournaments, camps and clinics can go to www.active.com/explorer/welcome.cfm to get started. For more information about eteamz online registration, teams can visit www.eteamz.com/onlineregistration/.
