Pacific Sports Partners With Active.com For Online Registration

LA JOLLA, Calif – December 19, 2001 – Pacific Sports LLC, a premier sports consultation firm and producer of more than 500 multisport events in the United States, has partnered with Active.com to offer online registration services for its entire line of nine road races and triathlons. Active.com, the industry’s largest Web registration provider for individual and team-based participatory sports and recreation, will provide both online and offline registration, plus Web site services for all Pacific Sports events in 2002. The nine events, which take place in California and Cleveland, Ohio, represent more than 15,000 participants.

“We understand the value of online registration for our participants and wanted to work with the best technology company, and in this market, that’s Active.com,” explained Jack Caress, president of Pacific Sports LLC. “Today we have more than 80% of our entries going online. We’ve been in business for a long time and it’s easy to see that this is the preferred way to do business by our participants. Our goal is to continue to provide top services and we did our research. Active.com represents the best technology, customer service and the most bells and whistles.”

Active.com will also provide offline registration services for those participants that depend on paper-based registration. “About 10%-20% of our participants still depend on paper-based registration and now it’s much easier to offer this. We simply turn this paperwork over to Active.com and it’s input right into our data management system,” added Caress.

Through Active.com’s Web site services, participants can also purchase official event merchandise online, year-round, at the Pacific Sports Web site. From hats, picture frames, fleece outerwear and t-shirts with race logos, participants can browse through a wide selection and purchase conveniently online, whether it’s off-season or not.

“It’s an honor to work with Jack Caress and his Pacific Sports team. Jack has been in the business for more than 25 years and is truly one of the original triathlon race directors in the country. His events are well-established and always well organized and we’re looking forward to helping him continue this high level of service,” said Mike Reilly, vice president, national account sales, The Active Network.

Online registration is now open for three Pacific Sports events: Buffalo Run (February 2, 2002); Catalina Marathon (March 16, 2002); and The City of Los Angeles Triathlon (September 2, 2002). Participants can register online at www.pacificsportsllc.com
