Active Acquires ALS, Central Trust Bank’s Conservation Licensing Division and Outdoor Central Significantly Expanding Its Offerings for Government Agencies
SAN DIEGO, CA – November 11, 2008 – The Active Network, Inc. (Active), today announced the acquisitions of Automated License Systems, Inc. (ALS), Central Trust Bank of Missouri’s Conservation Licensing Division and its wholly-owned subsidiary Outdoor Central, Inc. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
Each year, more than 74 million hunting and fishing licenses are sold in the United States. Together, ALS, Central Trust Bank’s Conservation Licensing Division and Outdoor Central work with 24 state government agencies to process payments for hunting and fishing licenses. With these acquisitions, Active becomes the nation’s largest provider of hunting and fishing licensing technology, significantly expanding its range of outdoor recreation product offerings for state, county and municipal government agencies.
All three organizations will join Active’s ActiveOutdoors division, which encompasses solutions and services for state, natural resource, conservation and park agencies. ActiveOutdoors’ breadth of services now include hunting and fishing licensing software, watercraft and ATV registration management, as well as software for automating and managing reservations for parks, campgrounds, venues, marinas, golf courses and more. With these acquisitions, ActiveOutdoors serves a total of 32 state government agencies.
“Leaders in their field, these organizations perfectly compliment our existing businesses and create significant growth opportunities for Active in the large outdoor recreation market,” said Matt Landa, president of The Active Network. “For the first time, government agencies now have a single technology provider that can fulfill all their transactional and operational needs, and a marketing partner committed to increasing awareness of and participation in outdoor activities and events.”
Based in Nashville, TN, ALS provides outsourced and automated software solutions used by state government agencies to process more than 30 percent of all annual US fishing and hunting license sales today. ALS supports over 13,000 license agents nationwide and processes more than 21 million transactions annually representing over $250 million in state revenue. ALS’s 200 plus employees will remain in its Nashville offices.
Central Trust Bank’s Conservation Licensing Division and Outdoor Central have been in the licensing business for a combined 22 years and are currently considered the largest wildlife licensing contractor and solution provider in the market today. Collectively they work with 17 state government agencies and one U.S. territory, and process over 25 million license transactions representing over $350 million in annual state revenue. Central Bank’s Conservation Licensing Division has 26 employees located in Jefferson City, MO. Outdoor Central has 52 employees based in Nashville who will be relocating to the nearby ALS office.
