Tour Reservations and Tickets Will Now Be Accessible Online to Members of Congress and Tourists
SAN DIEGO, CA - January 14, 2008 -The Active Network, Inc. (Active), a company that delivers software technology and marketing solutions for community service organizations (http://www.activenetwork.com), has been selected by The Office of the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) to build and host the ticketing and reservation system for the new Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). The new center, scheduled to open in fall 2008, is the largest expansion of the Capitol Building in its 212-year history. The AOC will use Active's custom operating management system to process reservations and tickets for tourists visiting the CVC.
The Architect of the Capitol is responsible to the United States Congress for the maintenance, operation, development, and preservation of the United States Capitol complex, which includes historical buildings such as the Capitol, the congressional office buildings, and the Library of Congress buildings.
Active's customized operation management system enables the AOC to offer members of Congress, tourists, and group tour operators the ability to reserve tour times from their offices, homes, self-service kiosks, or manned ticket booths. The new system will also provide additional capabilities such as monitoring visitor traffic, and managing overcrowding and long lines.
"We are thrilled at the opportunity to design a specific operations management system that will be the public interface for visitors to the new center," said Alex Barnetson, senior vice president, The Active Network, Inc. "This new system will raise the level of technology and service capabilities for the AOC, allowing them to operate all facets of the Capitol Visitor Center more efficiently, while providing a user-friendly experience to all."
Active has been providing federal tour sites with marketing and software solutions since 1998.
