The Active Network Signs 60th Customer For ProActive Internet Registration

DENVER, Colo. – October 1, 2001 – The Active Network, which merged with recreation management software provider Sierra Digital last year to web-enable the park and recreation industry, has signed its 60th customer for its ProActive Internet registration product. Since ProActive’s release in April, more than 35 park and recreation agencies and community colleges are now online, taking registrations over the Internet for their fall and winter seasons.

ProActive combines the strengths of the company’s award-winning recreation management software, RecWare Pro, with its flagship Internet registration technology to provide a new technology innovation for this market. The company will be showcasing ProActive at this week’s NRPA Congress & Exposition.

Unlike other approaches to Internet registration, ProActive delivers a completely hosted solution that does not require complex, expensive equipment such as a dedicated web server or secure credit card processing platform, or labor-intensive data entry. Users require only recreation management software, such as RecWare Pro, and access to the Internet, to easily and quickly upload program and class information onto the web to provide online registration for their communities. With ProActive, users can continue to enjoy the familiar functionality of their existing recreation management software.

Customers such as the staff at Eau Claire Parks & Recreation Department in Wisconsin have already taken 129 online registrations for fall, using ProActive. The department opened fall registration just a few weeks ago.

Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District, in California, is up and running for its fall season with 200 programs and activities, taking more than 50 online registrations over the past few weeks. Community colleges are also getting results, including three California colleges: Golden West College’s Community Services in Huntington Beach; Napa Valley College’s Community Education; and Palomar College’s Community Services Department in San Diego’s North County.

“We’re thrilled to offer this new service and didn’t anticipate just how popular it would be," said Candy Lundell, Community Services staff, Golden West College. “Online registration gives participants an opportunity to sign up for their programs without confining them to the hours between 8 and 5. Our participants now have another registration option available to them, and one that doesn’t conflict with their daily lives."

The staff at Eau Claire Parks & Recreation Department agreed. “ProActive provides a huge convenience. People depend on the Internet to do business and this is one more way we can respond to their needs," said Cindy Gillette, the department’s park and recreation administrative secretary. “ProActive has also been very easy to use. If we compare this fall season with last year’s, we were much busier last year with registration paperwork, payment processing and customer calls. ProActive has allowed us to save time and also provide a great service to the community. In one word, ProActive is slick."

ProActive Internet registration is also available for larger, multi-site organizations through the company’s RecWare Safari product. To view a flash demo of ProActive or access more information, visit www.recware.com and click on ProActive.
