SACRAMENTO, Calif. - July 13, 2004 - The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation in British Columbia, serving more than 500,000 residents in the city of Vancouver, has chosen RecWare Safari recreation management software by The Active Network, Inc. to automate its park and recreation administration.
Based on a successful two-season pilot program implemented at two community centres and a facility reservation site, the Park Board is expanding the program to include the formal deployment of RecWare Safari at additional community centres. As a result of the pilot program, the Park Board determined that RecWare Safari meets its automation needs for Internet activity registration, Internet facility search and reservation, and financial reporting. With the potential of adding membership management processes, the Park Board can integrate all of its administrative functions into a single system, eliminating duplicate entry and errors while maximizing the ability to retrieve data.
"We conducted an extremely thorough review process, comparing multiple software vendors," explained Terry Walton, manager, recreation services, Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation. "Our main objectives in choosing a new system were to consolidate five applications into a single solution, gaining the ability to write to a single database but accurately track separate funds and taxes by facility."
Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation joins a growing list of RecWare Safari customers, including such large agencies as District of Columbia Parks and Recreation, Washington D.C.; City of Oakland, Calif.; the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii; City of Austin, Texas; and City of Tulsa, Okla. RecWare Safari delivers a technologically-advanced recreation management solution with functionality integrated into a single software application. The software's integrated design not only allows staff one-click access for every recreation management function, but also features client/server functionality so multiple sites can access and share the same data. Using RecWare Safari, agencies of all size can automate activities from activity registration and facility reservation to membership management, reporting and league scheduling, while offering access to services via the Internet.
